Commissioner Noack Leads Charge to Increase Tax Exemptions

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX– Precinct 3 Commissioner James Noack requested information on increasing the 65 and older exemption from $35,000 to $50,000 in the next budget earlier this month, and today, the Court unanimously passed the increase.

Previously the county offered a 20 percent homestead exemption, $35,000 for residents 65 and older and $75,000 for disabled residents. Raising the exemption to $50,000 will save taxpayers about $2.7 million.

“Being a good steward of taxpayer money means constantly evaluating where we can take action to allow residents to keep more of their hard-earned money,” said Commissioner Noack. “I appreciate working so closely with our County colleagues like our Tax-Assessor, Tammy McRae to get this done for our taxpayers.”

Commissioner James Noack was first elected in Precinct 3 in 2012. He is up for his fourth full term in November 2024.

THE WOODLANDS, TX-Commissioner James Noack hosted his most successful campaign fundraiser to date last week. More than 200 people gathered last Thursday at Mahoney’s on Waterway to, not just raise money for his re-election campaign, but also celebrate his birthday.

“I’m always humbled by so many people showing up, not just for me, but also for my staff and our record of success for the residents and taxpayers of Precinct 3. We take our job very seriously and having so much support, I look forward to continuing my service to our community with another term.” said Commissioner Noack.

“We are always impressed with how well Commissioner Noack does both at the ballot box and in building his war chest. It is a true reflection of how great a job he does representing this community at Commissioner’s Court. It also proves just how difficult and expensive it will be to run against him in 2024,” said Sara Marie Ridley,
